During the 2006 Principals’ Retreat, Big Picture invited all network principals to each write an essay called a ‘This I Believe’ statement, modeled after a NPR weekly segment. The principals shared their essays with one another, and a few principals we moved to record them. Some people have beliefs forged over long periods of time, others are born in an instant, a single moment of truth with ones-self.
The School Advisory Board is responsible for governance of the charter school and provides leadership and citizen oversight of the school, by understanding the school’s fiscal and program operations and by providing advice to the school principal.
The Board sets direction for the school through a process that involves the community, parent/guardians, students and staff and is focused on student learning and achievement. The Board advises the school district governing board on issues such as program implementation, budgets, and facilities.
