Why did you get into teaching?

When I got back from traveling after college, I was drifting. In that drift, I decided to start substitute teaching until I could find something more permanent. I found that I really like working with kids, and took opportunities to teach summer school, coach, and be a mentor. After a 3-year stint in construction, a friend told me about the Met Sacramento High School. I visited and never looked back.

About Vince Wolfe

I love spending time with family, particularly if we are camping, barbecuing, or playing sports. I play soccer 2 days a week and do MMA a few days per week. Also, I play Irish music whenever I get the chance.

One of my favorite quotes is, "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men (and women) to do nothing." [Edmund Burke] As for educational quotes, I like one I once saw in Grace's room, "Tell me and I'll forget, Show me and I may remember, Involve me and I'll understand" [Old Chinese Proverb].

Why did you get into teaching?

When I was a youngster, I had horrible teachers. They never understood my creativity, never nourished my curiosity, and never mentored my adolescence. In 7th grade, my teacher gave me an F- in English. Now I have a degree in writing and an English credential.

Why did you get into teaching?

I got into teaching because the people who most impacted my life were my middle school teachers who were Black Males. One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Thomas. He was my Social Studies teacher. I somehow adopted a lot of his teaching style and humor.

Why did you get into teaching?

As far as I can think back, I have always wanted to be a teacher. My mom was a teacher and really inspired me to pursue my own career.
